#032: Batu Ferringhi

Its been a while since I last wrote a blog post here. There have been some big and positive changes in work and life that have kept my photography at bay.

But I finally got a chance to break out the camera once again over an extended weekend away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The family and I with some close friends drove up to the ever-fascinating and the gorgeous island of Penang. We stayed over at the Batu Ferringhi area with a trip over to the Kampung Nelayan (Fishing Village) during the days there. Batu Ferringhi is probably the best beach area on the island, so as expected it was crawling with local and foreign tourists all weekend long. It was also the year-end school holiday period, so there were just that extra bit of people all over to make the stretch of beach little inhospitable for someone who just wanted to relax. But somehow, looking back at the photos I took, I either missed the crowd when I was out and about or subconsciously decided not to want to photograph them. Don’t let these photos deceive you… it was packed.

It was nice just to get out and photograph stuff once again. A little rusty at first, but then I found my animal spirit and things fell into place. I had, this time, no specific thing in mind to photograph, so I just went with the flow and took in all the quirks of life on the beach. I got lucky with some amazing sunsets too.

All in all it was great to take a break and to get the camera out again. I hope you like the photos.

In the next post, I’ll probably… finally… post my semi-half-year-long photo project on… ;)
