057: Peszta
The Zhongshan Festival a.k.a. PESZTA took place a couple of months ago. A free community arts festival utilising multiple venues around the Kg.Attap area of Kuala Lumpur. It includes the now cult favourite Zhongshan Building, the boutique landscape and architecture firm Pentago House (at the now refurbished late Loke Yew’s family home in Jalan Rotan), and the SAM Mansion Flat in Jalan Akar.
The all-day festival, a much larger affair this year - its third year now - culminates with a free music festival/concert called the Mantap Kampung Attap in the evening.
I was there mid-afternoon to check out the daytime festivities; art, dance and music performances; eclectic art classes and a whole bunch of F&B items at the open markets. A great family-friendly atmosphere throughout the day session with many more children-centric activities this year. Then I came back in the evening for the evening concert featuring a fun lineup of local artists to entertain the now much larger crowd. Therefore this isn’t a complete representation of the entire festival, which means you have to come to experience it for yourself next year!
Once again, taking inspiration from my previous photographic outing and editing, I decided to go with the ultrawide angle of view to depict the festivities; giving that so-called “cinematic” feel to it. This time, however, I’m taking photos with a wider angle lens, the mighty NIKKOR Z 28MM F/2.8, borrowed from our friendly neighbourhood and regular YouTuber extraordinaire Mr. Robin Wong. Thanks Robin.
Lots of colour, and an all round great festival, should you ever want to visit KL during the early weeks of September.
Enjoy the photos and until the next post, have a great day!
Cheers.
